The best place to store watermelon is outside the fridge. According to a USDA research, watermelon are best stored at room temperature, which might protect the antioxidants. Watermelon ones refrigerated, breaks down and becomes grainy and powdery.
The cold temperature in the fridge tends to make the tomato mealy when stored inside and the refrigerator also disrupts the texture of the tomato.
The starch in potatoes are broken down due to the cold temperature of the fridge and leaves you with a gritty potato. This makes it to loose it natural taste no matter what you do with it.
When you leave bread at room temperature for long period of time, it might start to develop mould, but refrigerating it will dry it out rightly. So, if you have bread in excess, you can refrigerate them, but be certain to toast it the next time you want to eat them.
Honey is best stored at room temperature and kept away from direct sunlight. Storing honey in the refrigerator will cause it to harden.
Some fruits are better not stored in the fridge because it will make them loose their flavours and textures. These fruits include; orange, banana, avocado, apple, lemon, nuts etc.
Onion becomes soft and mushy when refrigerated especially for a long period of time due to the moisture present in the fridge. Cut onions also have a tendency of engulfing the place where it is kept with smell and you might not want this in your refrigerator.
