Step 1: Adding Search Engine Automatically

( 1) Launch Google Chrome: Open the Chrome browsers form your computer by double-clicking on its icon on the desktop.

(2) Go to a website with a search engine: After launching the Chrome, open a website with a search engine, like YouTube, Yahoo, eBay etc. Type in the URL of the site on the search bar and click Enter.

Chrome will automatically add the search engines to its Search Engine list in the Setting menu.

( 3 ) Access the Setting menu: Click the Option icon in the upper-right corner of the browsers window. It is the icon with three horizontal lines stacked on top of each other. Click on “Setting” near the button of the Option menu.

This should summon a new tab with the Settings options available for you to muck around.

( 4 ) Change your default search engine: Under the “Search” heading in the Settings menu, click the drop-down menu, which is the button with the arrow pointing down. This is the list of search engines you can use with Chrome. Just select which one you want to use as default by clicking on the search engine name

( 1 ) Launch Google Chrome: Open the Chrome in your computer by double clicking on its icon on the desktop.

( 2 ) Access the Setting Menu: Click on the option icon in the upper-right corner of the browser widow. It is the icon with three horizontal lines stacked on top of each other. Click on “Settings” near the button of the options menu.

( 3 ) Click “Manage Search Engines””: This is can be located under the Search heading; just scroll down the Settings page until you find it, then click on it.

A window will pop up with a list of search engines you can use with Chrome.

( 4 ) Enter the Information for a new Search Engine: At the button of the pop-up window are three blank boxes that you must fill in:

  • “Add a new search engine” –  This is where you enter the name of the search engine you will add.
  • “Keyword” – This could be a text shortcut you want to use for the search engine.
  • “URL: – On another browser tab,go to the search engine you want to add and do search on it. Copy the URL on the address bar, go back to the “ADD new search engine” window, and paste it on the field. Replace the word you searched for on the URL with %s .( for example, you search for “game”, this word should be st the end of the URL you copied; just delete and replace “game” with%*).

( 5 ) Save the Search Engine: Just click “Done” when you have finished. It will be added to the list on the upper part of the pop-up window.

( 6 ) Set the new search engine as Default: Move your mouse pointer over the newly created search engine and it will be highlighted. To the right will be a blue “Make default” button. Click on this to make the search engine the default search engine for Chrome.
