The management of Osun State University temporarily closes down the campus at Ipetu Ijesa due to an invasion by some unknown Air force men on Tuesday 23rd May, 2017. This decision was announced in a statement that was signed on behalf of the acting Registrar Adeosun. According to his statement students are expected to come back to the campus on May 31st.
“The Vice Chancellor has approved that all students of Ipetu Ijesa Campus of Osun State University should proceed on one week break from today Tuesday May 23, 2017.”

It is reported that the invasion was brutal and some students and staff were flogged and injured by the invaders. Eleven students and two workers were injured during the impromptu attack. Six of the victims were rushed to the hospital as their situation got worse.
The men stormed into the university with guns, cutlasses and daggers. Rumours say that they came to arrest some students who were involved in internet fraud. The men attacked anyone they came in contact with.
Reporters also say that the invasion is somehow connected to cyber-crime activities of some students in the university.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Adebimpe Adigun said that they did not shoot, but used the sticks they came with to carry out their activities. She also said that she had to call their commandant on phone, who obviously helped because the invaders left the campus. She said that some of the students who ran into the bush during the incident are missing.
