Supreme Court Confirms Lionel Messi’s 21 Month Prison Term

The supreme court of Spain has confirmed Lionel Messi’s 21 month prison term for tax evasion after he lost his appeal on Wednesday.

Messi and his father were guilty of using tax havens in Uruguay and Belize and shell companies in the United Kingdom and Switzerland to avoid paying their taxes.

It has been reported that Messi and his father avoided paying US$4.6 million. The Barcelona superstar has also been fined more that 2 million asides serving seven month for watch charge in jail.

The prison sentence is under two years, and the Argentine will most likely be handed a suspended sentence.
