Famous reggae singer and long-time performer, Ras Kimono has been reported dead. The singer, who celebrated his 60th birthday recently was supposed to be in the United States but died before he could travel. He was found to have slumped in his apartment on Saturday and was rushed to the nearest hospital in Ikoyi where he eventually let go of life.
His death shook the news pages and a lot of people including friends, family, fans, and well-wishers have openly expressed their grief over the loss of the legendary musician. Some of the messages form social media includes that of Senator Dino Melaye, in his message the senator wrote that;
“Death why! Why! My brother and my friend. Legend Ras Kimono rest in Peace. What a black day! What an unceremonious exit. I love you and will miss you. Sad sad sad.”
Another legendary reggae musician, Majek Fashek also expressed his sorrow obvert the loss. They were actually supposed to meet up in American. And in his own words the veteran reggae artist also expressed his sorrow;
“Ras Kimono why? Too soon Kimono my brethren. RIP! I’m short of words, our last meetings was for you to meet with my manager Uzo in America and death took you away. Forever in my heart, I’m gonna miss you….Jah why.”
Ras kimono is a Nigerian artiste who is very popular for his reggae music style. The artist songs like “under pressure” and “rhumba style” were a massive hit in the music industry and they were featured under his album under pressure at that time.
The artist releases other albums which also sold and he went on tour to different countries following the release of these albums. His real name is Ekeleke Elumelu and was born in Delta state, Nigeria. His music was greatly influenced by the fact that he had a tough life in poverty and inequality while growing up.
The artist has sung with other great raga artist and was even once a member of Jastix reggae ital. His demise is a big loss to the industry and he surely will be greatly missed.
