Taiwan Celebrates As Court Approves Gay Marriage

Gay marriage is the marriage between people of the same sex. The recognition of same sex marriage is a political, social and religious problem in many countries. Some court documents that were filed by American scientific associations state that singling gay men and women as ineligible for marriage both stigmatizes and invites public discrimination against them.

Now its legalized in Taiwan.  Debates still rise up as whether to accept gay marriage or not in different countries.

On Wednesday 24th May, the Taiwan’s constitution declared that same sex couples have the right to marry legally. This brought celebration in the country and would soon resonate across Asia.

The celebration was kicked off by activists who have been campaigning for gay rights many years ago. This also means that same sex couples have the same rights as opposite-sex couples.

The court said that the marriage laws were “in violation of both the people’s freedom of marriage and the people’s right to equality.”
