According to an annual survey report issued on Wednesday by the UN, the happiest country in the world is Finland. Finland has top Norway to become the happiest nation on earth in the list of World Happiest Country 2018.
The list of Top 10 World Happiest Country 2018 was released by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. This was based on their “happiness levels” scored across six factors. These factors include:
- Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
- Life expectancy
- Social support
- Generosity
- Freedom
- Corruption.
Finland rose from fifth place in 2017 World Happiest Country to overtake Norway from the top spot. For the first time, the UN also examined the happiness levels of immigrants in each country, and Finland scored the highest.

Furthermore, the unhappiest place in the world is Burundi, a country in East Africa. This is as a result of scarred by bouts of ethnic cleansing, civil wars, and coup attempts. Also, the other 5 unhappiest countries in the world include Rwanda, Yemen, Tanzania, South Sudan and the Central African Republic.
