Here in this post is a step-by-step guide to write a good I.T. Report. Students industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) is a programm which exposes student in various discipline the necessary practical oriented work that is meant to teach and equip them.
SIWES programme lasts for a period of 3 months to one(1) year for students in science based courses. I.T as a special course in some institutions carries about 3-6 units in their second semester credit load.
After the duration, students are required to write a technical report of their I.T experience. This basically covers all your activities in the work place, which carries 25% of the total siwes marks.To write a Good I.T. Report, i advise you adhere strictly to the following format, as so to get your full mark. In case you don’t know, your Industrial Training Fund (I.T.F), allocated the following marks to the reports.
- Log book Record/ Presentation: 25 marks
- Technical Report: 25 marks
- Attitudinal Observation: 10 marks
- Employers Report: 25 marks
- Oral interview by department (I.T defence): 15 marks.
So the whole thing depends on your log book and your report. You really need to use a well designed Format to Write a Good SIWES Report.

COVER PAGE
The arrangement of your cover page attracts marks to yor report. Your cover page should contain the students name, department, matriculation Number, the course code, period of attachment (dates should be quoted), your employers name Or your I.T co-ordinator and location of the place were the student did the I.T.

The next part is your chapters. when writing, you need to be careful, check your spellings well to avoid typographical error.
Ensure you use font size 14, New times roman and 2.0 line spacing. Also, don’t forget an organizational chart, as stated earlier.
CHAPTER 1
The Chapter 1 of your I.T report should contain the introduction, brief history of the firm or ministry where you carried out your training and its organizational chart.
CHAPTER 2
Your I.T report Chapter 2 should cover all your activities during your training period, and should be done lucidly.

Now you state all the Problems which you encountered during the training period in chapter 3.
CHAPTER 4
It’s time for your conclusion and general appraisal of the programme. Diagrams, graphs and sketches should be used where necessary.
