Yobe State News – Seven people have been confirmed dead in a fresh suicide bomb attack on Sunday in Potiskum, Yobe State, said an eyewitness.
Witnesses said the bomb explosions occurred around 1:20pm on Sunday, in front of the residence of the People’s Democratic Party candidate for the Potiskum/Nangere federal constituency in Yobe State, Sabo Garbu, opposite the Federal Government College in the town.
We have evacuated eight bodies including the suicide bomber’s to hospital,” said a police officer at the scene.
Witness Nura Umar, who gave the same death toll, said the bomber emerged from a bus that pulled up in front of the home Sabo Garbu, who is contesting for a position in the state House of Assembly on the ruling Peoples Democracy Party ticket.
Another witness, Ali, said the bomber came to the residence of the politician, where he was hosting a lot of party supporters and detonated the explosives just in front of his house.
Meanwhile, Boko Haram Islamist have carried out many bombings across the northeast of Nigeria and have killed many politicians in targeted attacks.
